A Lesson in Kindness

Three years ago I entered an online contest sponsored by a company called “Bob’s Red Mill”. A simple name, for a small company based in Oregon and a major producer of healthy products, from Gluten free products to whole wheat flour, cereal and grains. The products are all made with a promise that they will, not only be tasty but be made with the best ingredients and maybe even good for you!
I didn’t win the contest but just by entering I became a member of a wonderful, caring, special club, Called “Heroes of the Mill” where every now and then I get a package in the mail from them. I never know when I will get one or what will be in it. I just know that it will be something special. Sometimes it will be a book with recipes and a sample of their newest product or a box of grains to try or a pie plate and a bag of their flour.

All, I know is, I spent two hours developing a recipe for a contest and I have been  blessed with three years of kindness and joy, thanks to a little company called “Bob’s Red Mill.”
Now that’s a lesson in kindness.

Soooooo…..I thought it was time to pay it forward and share a new product that features many of their great products, in a simple and easy to use format called “Cake in a Crate,” which has all the products you need to complete a recipe in pre-measured amounts, featuring “Bob’s Red Mill” products. My crate contained all the ingredients necessary to make Maple Coconut Caramel Macaroons. My crate contained “Bob’s Red Mill” flaked coconut, almond flour and pumpkin seeds. Looks easy and sounds yummy! If you want to try any of their other products go to

The recipe booklet that came in the package listed the instructions in six easy steps so I simply followed along……..

An hour later, I was eating macaroons! Thank You, "Bob's Red Mill"
