2016 World Food Chmpionships

Are you ready for some …… FOODBALL

 at The 2016 World Food Championships  ???

Food Sport, as it is rightfully called at the 

2016 World Food Championship, was a real workout.

We competed in the 2016 World Food Championships and attended a Food Blogger Summit in Orange Beach, Alabama. It’s been three months since Chef Dar and I made the trip to the WFC and I’m still not sure we have recovered. Both Chef Dar and I had qualified for two different contests this year. Chef Dar receiving her entry for finishing in the top ten in the Sandwich contest last year. I earned my entry in the Dessert contest courtesy of an On-line recipe contest sponsored by Just-A-Pinch, a recipe web site.

Yes, Alabama has beaches, a revelation to us. The Food Blogger Summit preceded the WFC and was held at an impressive resort call The Turquoise among the many resorts that front a beautiful white sand beach.

The Blogger Summit took us on a wild (bus) ride that highlighted the local seafood industry. The Oysters and shrimp were outstanding.

 

 

  

We also were challenged to prepare foods using locally made products and sponsors.

 

Then we moved on to the real fun, the WFC contests. Chef Dar gives a nod to being in Alabama in the sandwich contest with her steak sandwich.

 It got us into the finals !!!

  In the finals we made it to 4^th place in the 2016 World Dessert Championship with these outstanding apple dumplings.

We were exhausted, but plan on giving it another go next year at the 2017 World Food Championships.
