Let”s Get Cooking with Kansas City Steak

I now live in Phoenix but I spent 30 years living in a small town just outside of Kansas City, Missouri. It was a great place to raise our children but after slipping on the ice and falling, for the third time in a week, we decided to trade the winter snow and ice for sunshine. We’ve lived in Arizona for almost 8 years and have never regretted our decision.

There are things we miss but we’ve discovered some of those things can be easily obtained on this wonderful thing called the “internet.” Like ordering steaks from a company that has been around since 1932 called “The Kansas City Steak Company.” The name is pretty self explanatory. They sell steaks that are aged for 28 days and their steaks can be delivered right to your door. So why would you order them, when the grocery store down the block sell steaks? One taste and you will understand! They are melt in your mouth delicious and guaranteed to be tender. I don’t know about you but my grocery store doesn’t guarantee that!

So, I wanted to create a sandwich recipe where the flavor of the steak was dominant and the additional ingredients simply complimented the sandwich. I think I did pretty good but then again how do I really know since the steak was so good, the salt and pepper would probably have been enough.

So here’s my recipe and if you’d like to try a steak you will love, just click on this link and try a package of their steaks or other products. I know you will love them as much as I do!    https://www.kansascitysteaks.com/

1 tablespoon pimentos, mashed
½ small onion, sliced
2oz pepperoncini slices
6 red pepper slices

Cut steak into ½ inch slices. Cut bagels in half, brush with butter and place cut side down on grill. Remove from grill when lightly toasted.

Fried Green Tomatoes
In 3 shallow bowls, place flour, egg and bread crumbs. Dip tomato slices in flour then egg and finally in bread crumbs. Fry in vegetable oil until golden brown. Remove from pan onto paper towel and sprinkle with salt.

Pimento Spread
In a small mixing bowl combine cheeses, mayo, garlic and onion powder and pimentos. Mix with mixer until fluffy and well combined.

To assemble: Place bottom of bagel on serving plate. Top with pimento spread and fried tomato. Top with steak, onion, pepperoncini and red pepper slices. Spread top bun with a light coat of mayo and place on top of sandwich. Makes 2 sandwiches.

Sometimes the best sandwiches are simply a matter of using great ingredients like Kansas City Steaks.  So how do you make a great sandwich even better? You really don’t have to do much. So I added things I like and I made a great sandwich I hope you will enjoy, too.
