Are you ready for some FOODBALL ???.

What a great game! We gathered at my niece’s house and our Super Bowl party was a success! Fun, family and lots and lots of food. I made three appetizers and they all turned out, so overall the day was filled with touchdowns! Now I’m starting to sound like my husband. I guess it can’t be helped since we’ve been married 36 years. He likes to cook and has decided he will join me on my blog. This is a wrap up, he wrote of the Football/Foodball season!

Go Greg!

As with the past years as the football season plays out GO ARIZONA CARDINALS !!!!,
Chef Greg brings you a review of the culinary foodball action in our little culinary world here in Arizona. This year’s contests started, as usual, with ………

The Arizona State Fair Culinary Contests.
This year many of our top local chefs boycotted the State Fair contests
due to a change in Culinary Department management that made last year’s
contests really SUCK. However, ever vigilant Chef Dar noticed that this year’s
DOLE FRUIT DESSERT CONTEST was offering $500 as a first Prize.
Chef Dar likes money and guess who walked off with 1st place with her

Topsy-Turvy Spiced Mango Dumplings.

Chef Greg forgot the baking soda in his recipe and his
Pineapple Carrot Upside Down Cake-lets tasted like Upside down shit-lets.
That, however, didn’t stop them from using my picture on the State Fair web site.
Rubbing it in I’m sure.

Next came the ever popular SPAM CONTEST. This contest
is a stepping stone to the national contest that you may
remember Chef Dar won in 2007 to the tune of $3000.
Chef Dar was the odds on favorite this year until Chef Sommer
with her SPAM TAMALES arrived and took 1st place.
Chef Greg took 2nd  place with his Easy-Cheesy Fiesta SPAM Sweet Corn Casserole.
This means Chef Sommer has the opportunity to follow in her Ma’s foot steps
and win the National Title. Good luck, Som, you’ll win today or tamale.

Chef Dar would have been in the money had it not been for the
contestant that showed up late with a HOT DISH, a food contest dirty trick.
Ours were all ice cold after sitting on the judging table for 45 minutes.
But Chef Dar assures me she’s NOT BITTER.

 The WORLD FOOD CHAMPIONSHIPS.
                 THE ULTIMATE FOOD FIGHT
Next up were the much anticipated World Food Championships held in Kissimme, Florida.
Both Chef Dar and Chef Greg won “Golden Ticket” entries in the WFC via on-line
competitions. They joined 500 Fellow Chefs from throughout the world in contests
for over $350,000 and you may remember what I said earlier “Chef Dar likes money”.

First up was the FOOD FIGHT WRITE BLOGGER CONTEST.
This was an invitation only for Food bloggers. Chef Dar made us all proud finishing 4th
And just missing the money in a field of 30.

Next was the WORLD RECIPE CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST.
Chef Greg, sweating his ass off In the 90 degree Florida humidity, came in 16th in a field of 30.
Only the top 10 move on to the big money finals. Chef Greg’s response “I’LL BE BACK”

Last, but not least, came THE WORLD SANDWICH CHAMPIONSHIP.
Chef Dar, now in fighting shape, came out swinging with her UPTOWN STEAK SANDWICH.
This contest was sponsored by the KC Steak Company, providing three melt in your mouth
filets for use in creation of a steak sandwich. She nailed it and placed 9th in a field of 50.

This put her in the TOP TEN ROUND with a top prize of $10,000. She placed 10th and took
Home $500. She beat out many top Chefs and TV food personalities and with her
Automatic  “Golden Ticket” for 2016 everyone now knows “SHE’LL BE BACK”
as will the ARIZONA CARDINALS
